Well, speaking for our Great State of Texas, we must attend 80 classroom hours at an accredited auction school, pass their auctioneer exam to complete training and education requirements – Then apply and pass the Texas State Auctioneer exam. Texas requires 8 hours of continuing education yearly to keep our licenses. Fail to complete the continuing education requirements, and your license is revoked. ThinAuctioneers are the only retail/shopping company required to be licensed in Texas.

Certified Auctioneer Institute = CAI

The professional designation is awarded to practicing auctioneers who meet the experiential, educational, and ethical standards set by the NAA Education Institute. To be granted the CAI designation, auctioneer scholars must have been practicing full-time for at least two years (before attending the institute), attend all three years of CAI at Indiana University, with more than 120 classroom hours, complete all special projects and complete 24 hours of continuing education every three years. This is the highest education offered to our industry.

Auction Technology Specialist = ATS

A professional designation awarded by the NAA Education Institute to help professional auctioneers understands today’s technology-based and traditional marketing. To attain the ATS designation, auctioneer scholars must complete 24 classroom hours. Also, complete a custom auction summary report based on knowledge from the designation course, and hold online-only auctions. Plus have 24 hours of continuing education every three years.

Certified Estate Specialist = CES

A professional designation awarded by the NAA Education Institute to help professionals understand how to conduct and deal with the settling of estates properly. The course also educates professional auctioneers on dealing with family members, lawyers, and accountants. To be designated with the CES, auctioneer scholars must complete 21 classroom hours and 24 hours of continuing education every three years.

Graduate Personal Property Appraiser = GPPA

The professional designation awarded by the NAA Education Institute to qualified property appraisers who meet the educational and experiential requirements of the Institute and who adhere to a strict code of ethics and standards of practice. To be designated with the GPPA, one must complete 35 classroom hours, a detailed written appraisal report, and proof of at least two affidavits of appraisals. This designation also requires 24 hours of continuing education every three years.

Texas Certified Auction Professional = TCAP Certified

To earn this certification awarded by the Texas Auctioneers Association, the candidates must complete all three courses over three years. This professional certification is offered to auctioneers to enhance their business and professional services to the public. Courses cover business management, marketing, and operations. Top-notch auction industry leaders presented classes covering topics to enhance our business and personal lives while moving our businesses forward.
