BLINDED VETERANS ASSOCIATION

On behalf of the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA), the only congressionally chartered membership veterans’ service organization exclusively dedicated for 67 years to serving the needs of our nation’s blinded veterans and their families, we would like to invite you to our national convention charity benefit auction being held 7: PM Tuesday 21 August, 2012 in the Galveston Convention Center. In attendance will be war blinded service members and families from Iraq and Afghanistan along with veterans from previous wars who came home with vision loss as a result of the injuries they sustained defending our nation.
BVA has developed a program, “Operation Peer Support Iraq and Afghanistan Service Members” to assist those from the wars and from training accidents who have incurred blindness or significant visual injuries. Operation Peer Support’s most immediate objective is to bring these service members to our convention with a more overarching mission to help them learn about new adaptive technology, vision research, employment training, and other federal benefits for the visually disabled.
The Auction will be conducted by David F. Drake TX License #16244 and his wife Elizabeth Monteson Drake, TX license #16596 both of whom run the Trinity Auction Gallery. The Veterans attending this Convention will be coming from all over the country. BVA is asking for items, especially ones that relate to Texas to be auctioned off. We look forward to making this a thrilling and exciting night for our Hero’s who have given so much for our country. Proceeds raised will be used to offset the Convention costs and BVA general operating expenses.
