“Transparency is about information. It is about the ability of the receiver to have full access to the information he wants, not just the information the sender is willing to provide. Transparency embodies honesty and open communication because to be transparent someone must be willing to share information when it is uncomfortable to do so. Transparency is an individual being honest with himself about the actions he is taking. Transparency is also the organization being upfront and visible about the actions it takes, and whether those actions are consistent with its values.”
I recently read an article about transparency in business and how it reflects on us as business owners and our beliefs. The statements above are quoted from that article.
While determining how to run our business to be effective in earning the trust of our clients, which is our goal as a professional auction company, we decided the best course of action would be to publish our prices realized at auction for our sellers to review immediately after the auction closed. Fortunately, in doing so we have helped countless appraisers to find actually paid values for items they are researching and for future Estate Attorney’s and Estate Executors to view to determine if the auction method is the right choice for their estate liquidation.
There are certainly times when posting an item did not sell or sold for a lower price than expected has been painful. Honesty and fair dealing have increased our bottom line and our personal growth. Today more than ever supplying real information is more important than a false image of our business capabilities. We believe in the auction method of marketing to find a fair and reasonable market value, not an inflated one which gives sellers an unfair idea of their personal properties value. This is the right choice for us to make.
